Introduction (by David A. Cooper):-

I didn't study biology at school because I knew that it would involve sitting for three hours a week in a room filled with stinking tanks of newts, as well as chopping up dead animals. That side of things never appealed to me, but the subject itself is becoming increasingly interesting as as more is discovered about genetics and DNA. This course, when it is written, will enable you to opt out of the unpleasant aspects of the subject and to concentrate on real learning instead. Of course, if you want to cut up dead animals, it's easy enough to keep pet rodents and wait for them to die of old age (after a happy life) before taking a knife to them.
